When I first heard about the Guardian
Sleeper I was intrigued with the concept as well as the look of this
lovely soft sleeping blanket. My thoughts immediately turned to my
favorite song.
"Lullabye and good night, with pink roses bedight, with lilies
o'erspread is my baby's sweet head. Lay you down now and rest,
may your slumber be blessed!"
Universally known as Brahms' Lullaby this wonderful and familiar song was composed by Johannes Brahms as Wiegenlied: Guten Abend, gute Nacht, Op.49,No.4.
in 1868 to celebrate the birth of his friend's son. This gift to
his friend Bertha Faber continues to be our good fortune.
Now, may I tell you all about the wonderful Guardian Sleeper?
Originally from the UK, Nicola Pieters and Carol BetzIt met in 1999 in
the US and became fast friends. As new mothers they were "determined to
find a way to stay home with their babies". However, they were unable
to find a sleeper that would meet the needs of keeping their precious
infants warm and safe. They worked together to design and develop a
blanket which "not only stays in place while swaddling the baby to
increase sleep duration but more importantly maintains the baby in the
correct position to reduce the triggers for apnea and therefore the
danger of SIDS".
"The sleeper underwent testing in medical institutions and in homes and
received accolades." Robin White MD, pediatrician and founder of the
Medical Profession, LLC states "I was thrilled to see a blanket I could
recommend to my patients. I am frequently asked how to keep a blanket
on a baby who insists on kicking it off and now I have a safe and
effective answer."
Please join me in celebrating an answer to all our prayers,
the Guardian Sleeper.
"Lullaby and goodnight, you're your mother's delight. Soft and warm is your bed, close your eyes and rest your head."
